All the texts of these pages on Chad are taken from my photo book "Chad - Moments of day-life" (see section My Books)
I am veterinarian and expert in food security in sub-Saharan Africa contexts and I had already visited Chad during short missions, which had not allowed me to fully "savor" the beauty of the country. Then in 2006, I found myself coordinating a development project in Moundou for the NGO COOPI and after a year (at the end my mission) I told myself that I would never return to that "so difficult" country. Instead, due to the convergence of unfathomable factors and personal choices, seven were the years I spent in that country, ending this experience in May 2015.
In these seven years I have been able to combine work and a passion for photography, facilitated by access to the daily life of the communities with which I relate. For this reason, most of the images refer to rural contexts (project activities, village markets, artisans, farmers, shepherds, fishermen, etc.) that were the counterpart of my professional activity. Chad, a country, which surprised me by the richness and diversity of ethnic groups, cultures and traditions of the populations that live there or pass through.

Sono medico veterinario, esperto in sicurezza alimentare nell’ambito di progetti di sviluppo in Africa subsahariana ed il Ciad lo avevo già visitato altre volte, in occasioni di brevi missioni, che non mi avevano permesso di “assaporare” appieno le bellezze del paese. Poi nel 2006, mi sono ritrovato a coordinare un progetto di sviluppo a Moundou per l’ONG COOPI e dopo un anno (a fine missione) mi sono detto che non sarei più ritornato in quel paese “così difficile”. Invece, per la convergenza d’insondabili fattori e di scelte personali, ben sette sono gli anni che alla fine ho accumulato in quel paese, chiudendo questa esperienza nel maggio del 2015.
In questi sette anni ho potuto abbinare il lavoro e la passione per la fotografia, facilitato dall’accesso alla vita quotidiana delle comunità con cui mi relazionavo. Per questo motivo, la maggior parte delle immagini si riferisce a contesti rurali (attività di progetto, mercati di villaggio, artigiani, coltivatori, pastori, pescatori, etc.) che facevano parte della mia attività professionale. Il Tchad, un paese, che mi ha sorpreso per la ricchezza e la diversità di etnie, di culture, di usi e costumi delle popolazioni che ci vivono o che vi transitano.
