Introduction to my book "Colors of Tunisia"
This book has no ambition other than to show some of the many faces of a magnificent and surprising country in all its manifestations. I wanted to gather in this volume the most beautiful and dearest to me images of the places visited, in particular of the island of Djerba and its surroundings in the South of the country, without forgetting some glimpses of the more northern areas. Trying to create a common thread, naturally and without any forcing, the dominant motif has revealed itself and the COLOR has imposed itself as an element of union and key to the main reading. And this is how the images found their natural space, one after the other in a visual story that passes from the sea to the desert, through the oasis, natural manifestations and human expressions.
The COLORS of Tunisia touch the heart and the images proposed here are only a tiny representation of reality. But the desire to be able to see them again at any moment, albeit in the virtual form of printed paper, stimulated my lazy nature, in an effort to create something more than a souvenir photo.
Dedicated to my father Marino and my mother Alberta, who have made Tunisia their second home.
Introduzione al mio libro “Colori di Tunisia”
Questo libro non ha nessuna ambizione se non quella di mostrare alcuni dei numerosi volti di un paese magnifico e sorprendente in ogni sua manifestazione.
Ho voluto raccogliere in questo volume le immagini a mio parere più belle e a me più care dei luoghi visitati, in particolare dell'isola di Djerba e dei suoi dintorni nel sud del Paese, senza dimenticare alcuni scorci delle zone più a nord. Cercando di creare un filo conduttore, naturalmente e senza forzatura alcuna, il motivo dominante si è auto rivelato ed il COLORE si è imposto come elemento d'unione e chiave di lettura principale. Ed è così che le immagini hanno trovato il loro spazio naturale, una dopo l'altra in un racconto visivo che dal mare passa al deserto, attraverso l'oasi, le manifestazioni naturali e le espressioni umane.
I COLORI della Tunisia toccano il cuore e le immagini qui proposte non sono che un'infima rappresentazione della realtà. Ma il desiderio di poterle rivedere ad ogni istante, seppure nella forma virtuale di carta stampata, ha sollecitato la mia pigra indole, nello sforzo di realizzare qualcosa di più di una foto-ricordo.
