Rwanda is a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley where the African Great Lakes region and East Africa converge. Rwanda is one of the smallest countries on the African mainland, its capital city is Kigali, located a few degrees south of the Equator. Rwanda people suffered heavily in the wake of the 1994 genocide, but has since strengthened. The economy is based mostly on agriculture. Coffee and tea are the major cash crops for export. Tourism is a fast-growing sector and is now the country's leading foreign exchange earner.

Il Rwanda è un paese senza sbocco sul mare nella Great Rift Valley, dove convergono la regione dei Grandi Laghi africani e l'Africa orientale. Si tratta di uno dei paesi più piccoli del continente, la sua capitale è Kigali, situata a pochi gradi a sud dell'Equatore. La popolazione ruandese ha sofferto pesantemente sulla scia del genocidio del 1994, ma da allora si è rafforzata. L'economia si basa principalmente sull'agricoltura. Caffè e tè sono le principali colture da reddito per l'esportazione. Il turismo è un settore in rapida crescita con importanti entrate di valuta estera.
