Reserve Naturelle de La Somone
Somone is the name of a small local river on the “petite cote” about a hundred kilometers south of Dakar. The river has its source in the Ndiass massif, near Thiès, and descends towards the Atlantic Ocean forming a lagoon and a protected area since 1999. The lagoon is made up of sand banks and mangroves which at low tide are the privileged place of 172 bird species.

La Somone è il nome di un piccolo fiume locale sulla “petite cote” a un centinaio di kilometri a sud di Dakar. Il fiume ha la sua sorgente nel massiccio del Ndiass, vicino a Thiès, e scende verso l'Oceano Atlantico formando una zona lagunare e area protetta dal 1999. La laguna è costituita da banchi di sabbia e mangrovie che con la bassa marea sono il luogo privilegiato di 172 specie di uccelli.
